An antibiotic is a substance produced by a microorganism that at low concentration inhibits the growth and/or kills other microorganisms. Whereas, antimicrobial is a broader term used for any substance of natural, semi-synthetic or synthetic origin that kills or inhibits the growth of a microorganism but causes little or no host damage.
Cheminova AVICIDE-P range products commonly used to describe microbial control:
Sterilization – Destroying all infective and reproductive forms of all microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, virus, and the like). -Disinfection – Destroying all vegetative forms of microorganisms. Spores are not destroyed.
Sanitation – Pathogenic organisms are present but are not a threat to the birds’ health.
